Join local maker Katie MacIntyre at the Aurora Inn for a fun and flavor packer vanilla-making workshop. All supplies will be provided, and you’ll leave with a bottle of extract to use in your home baking, cocktails, or to give as a gift. Join Alex Schloop, Creative Director for the Inns of Aurora, for a hands-on workshop sewing a simple pamphlet stitch book — great for writing shopping lists, collecting inspirational quotes, or giving as a hostess gift! Learn basic bookmaking terminology and concepts while crafting your own take-home book with cover paper imported from Italy. An alumnus of the Wells Book Arts Center, Alex has produced artist books that have shown internationally and often hosts printing and binding workshops across the Finger Lakes region. Join Jesse Ball, herbalist and Licensed Massage Therapist, for a two-hour workshop on spring herbs that help detoxify the body and digest and nourish from the inside out. Recieve information about both the body and plants and delve into the anatomy and physiology of the body systems and organs. Learn how to support the body’s systems and organs to optimal functioning with the use of three herbs readily available locally in the wild. Discussion about the herbs will include name and identification of each plant, its constituents and medicinal uses, and how to source and use the plant including preparations and dosages. Time for a Q&A session will allow for specific examples and discussion. Samples of each herb in various forms will be shared throughout the workshop, and participants will leave with handouts for future reference. Preparations will be available for purchase following the class. This class is open to guests of the Inns of Aurora for $20 per person and the general public for $40. Pre-registration is required.
