There’s no better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than spending some time on the sparkling waters of Cayuga Lake. Whether you soak in the sunset at one of our lakeside fire pits or spend the day visiting wineries by boat, we guarantee you’ll find the perfect way to enjoy the lake this summer in Aurora. Here are just a few of our favorite ways to take advantage of our lakefront location.
take a paddle
Choose from our four Old Town kayaks or two of our classic two-person canoes for a peaceful early morning paddle or a sun-filled afternoon exploration of the shoreline. Paddles and life vests provided; check out watercraft at the Aurora Inn front desk and depart from the beach at the Aurora Inn.
go for a cruise
Join Captain Matt from Bianconi Tours for one of his three daily tours, departing convienitely from the Aurora Inn dock. For over a century the Bianconi family has lived on Cayuga Lake, next door to the Aurora Inn. Captain Matt Bianconi is a third generation Auroran, and has been on the lake more than 40 years. Whether you choose a narrated lunch cruise featuring Aurora’s history, an afternoon of wine tasting by boat, or a spectacular sunset cruise, Bianconi Tours is a great way to experience Aurora.
try your hand at paddle boarding
Whether you’re a pro or giving it a go for the first time, taking one of our stand-up paddle boards is both a great workout and a fun time. We have paddles and life vests — check out your paddle boards at the Aurora Inn front desk.
make a s’more
Relive your childhood with the warmth of an old-fashioned campfire under the stars. With the exception of nights when we’re hosting special events, join us by the shore at the Aurora Inn for a nightly fire. Staying at Wallcourt Hall, E.B. Morgan House, or Rowland House? Ask your innkeeper if they can light a fire for you in the house’s very own fire pit. Make sure to stop by the Village Market and pick up s’mores supplies!
take a dip
Hold your nose, take a deep breath, and take a dip in Cayuga Lake! Leap off one of our docks at the Aurora Inn, E.B. Morgan House, or Rowland House, or walk into the lake at the beach at the Aurora Inn. Ask your innkeeper or the front desk for beach towels — remember to pack your water shoes!
gather your group for a charter
Since 2003, Discover Cayuga Lake has provided hands-on learning opportunities in the interest of sustaining our Finger Lakes waterways for future generations. Their impressive and spacious boat, the Teal, can accommodate over 60 guests and is perfect for a private charter with a convenient pick-up at the Aurora Inn dock.
