No matter the season, the Inns of Aurora offer plenty of complimentary activities to keep you active and engaged all day long. Whether you enjoy a refreshing summer dip in the lake or a crisp afternoon snowshoe hike, adventures abound in Aurora.
We have six classically-styled bicycles from our partner, Mozie. Whether you prefer to take a leisurely ride down Main Street on a Stella model (pictured above) or prefer to explore the rolling hills surrounding Aurora on a Marc model, a bicycle ride is a timeless way to soak in the scenic Finger Lakes. Our favorite ride is down Lake Road to Long Point State Park — an ideal spot for a lakeside picnic. Helmets provided; check out bicycles at the Aurora Inn.
Canoes, Kayaks, & Stand-Up Paddle Boards
With nearly a quarter-mile of uninterrupted lake access, it’s easy to get out on the water in Aurora! Choose from one of our four Old Town Vapor 10 kayaks, two of our classic two-person canoes, or two of our inflatable stand-up paddle boards for a peaceful early morning paddle or a sun-filled afternoon exploration of the shoreline. Paddles and life vests provided; check out watercraft at the Aurora Inn front desk and depart from the beach at the Aurora Inn.
Hold your nose, take a deep breath, and take a dip in Cayuga Lake! Leap off one of our docks at the Aurora Inn, E.B. Morgan House, or Rowland House, or walk into the lake at the beach at the Aurora Inn. Ask your innkeeper or the front desk for beach towels — remember to pack your water shoes!
Prefer to stay on land? Enjoy a leisurely afternoon with some friendly competiton on one of our expansive lawns with a game of corn hole, giant Jenga, or bocce ball — available at each of our four inns. Simply ask your innkeeper or the front desk to get started.
Relive your childhood with the warmth of an old-fashioned campfire under the stars. With the exception of nights when we’re hosting special events, join us by the shore at the Aurora Inn for a nightly fire. Staying at E.B. Morgan House or Rowland House? Ask your innkeeper if they can light a fire for you in the house’s very own fire pit. Make sure to stop by the Village Market and pick up s’mores supplies!
With Sapsucker Woods at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to the south and the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge to the north, Aurora is situated on a globally-important migratory path and surrounded by spectacular bird-watching sites and trails. Ask your innkeeper for a pair of binoculars and a New York State bird guide. Depending on the time of year, prepare to see everything from Bald Eagles to Ringnecks, Hooded Mergansers, Shovelers, Mallards, Wigeons, and Canvasbacks.
Gather by the fire, open a bottle of wine, and break out the Scrabble board! From classics like Clue and Monopoly to new favorites like Bananagrams, we have an extensive library of board and card games scattered throughout our four inns.
Aurora is dotted with snowshoeing trails perfect for spending time surrounded by nature’s beauty and peaceful quiet. We have a collection of six pairs of snowshoes to fit every body type — just stop by the Aurora Inn to sign them out.
We’ve made getting out and enjoying the flurries easy with build-your-own-snowman kits! Each kit has everything you need to make the snowman you remember from childhood. Will you make a traditional snowman or a creative sculpture? It’s up to you.
Our vintage-inspired runner sled from L.L. Bean is sturdy enough to use down our gently sloping hills and light enough to make your stroll around the village that much more fun.
