Knife Care and Skills
Join Chef Patrick Higgins at Aurora Cooks—the Inns of Aurora’s stunning new demonstration kitchen—for a relaxed and educational experience. Gather around the island as though you’re at a chef’s home kitchen and enjoy learning his secrets and tips.
Explore the differences between Japanese and European knives while you come to appreciate various styles and their specific purpose. See how to properly hold and use these culinary tools as well as observe knives being sharpened using two methods.
BONUS: bring one of your own knives to be sharpened by Chef Patrick. Please note: sharpening may cause minor scratches on the blade of your knife. No sharpening will be offered for pure stainless steel knives.
Round out your visit with dinner at the 1833 Kitchen and Bar. Reservations strongly encouraged.
Classes are open to all and begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.—doors open at 11:20 a.m. Seating is limited to 12 guests. Tickets are $35 plus tax. Please register in advance.
FINE PRINT: If you are unable to attend a class, you must cancel at least 24-hours in advance to receive a refund, retain a credit, or transfer to another class. Without the 24-hour notice, the registration fee is non-refundable. You may, however, send someone to class in your place.
