Wine & Beer Dinners

Surrounded by rolling farmland where heritage farms cultivate wine grapes, grow organic vegetables, produce artisanal cheeses, and raise grass-fed beef, we are lucky to live in the center of a thriving farm-to-table culture. Our annual wine & beer dinner series — crafted to showcase the incredible work of our region’s winemakers, brewmasters, and farmers — has become our culinary signature. For each of these special dinners, Executive Chef Patrick Higgins (recently honored by the James Beard Foundation) creates a five-course menu, designing each unique dish to showcase and enhance the featured wine or beer pairing. During dinner, both Chef Patrick and our featured guest act as your culinary guide, revealing the story behind each sip and every bite.

Please call us at 315.364.8888 to place your reservation. These dinners make excellent gifts for friends and family who already have everything they need, and we’d be happy to put together a special gift presentation for you! With advance notice, we can accommodate almost all dietary requests and needs. Each dinner is hosted in the elegant Lakeside Room of the Aurora Inn.

Jaffelin Wine Dinner

The history of Jaffelin runs parallel to that of the Collegiate Church of Notre Dame. Over the centuries, the house cellars stored wines for the church, Dukes, Princes, and Kings. The Chapter House Cellars changed hands until the Jaffelin brothers established their wine merchant business there in 1816. Join us as we celebrate this storied past and welcome the bright future with winemaker Marinette Garnier. Marinette will travel from France to upstate New York for the first time for this special dinner.

Marinette Garnier, born in the heart of Burgundy, has a lot of experience working alongside some of the most famous names in Burgundy, including Domaine Comtes Lafon, Domaine Méo-Camuzet, and on completion of her diploma, at Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils. Marinette is now winemaker at Maison Jaffelin. Wood is central to Marinette Garnier’s winemaking style. Far from altering the terroir characteristics of the wines, Marinette Garnier believes that wood is part of the Bourgogne wine style. She carefully selects the woods and cooking levels of barrels to match the characteristics of each cuvée and deliver unique wines.
